A bit of history

Arcion is an architectural technique that was used in the Middle Ages for decorative purposes. Its lines intertwine to form a grid symbolizing unity and harmony

How did Arcion come about?

In mid-2019, a member of our board had to face a sad and difficult personal situation: her mother was hospitalized in critical condition. The clinic where she was being treated asked for donors in order to provide her with a red blood cell transfusion.

At that moment, our colleague had no one to turn to and time was running out, as it usually happens in these cases. Then, a light of hope appeared: there were willing donors in Buenos Aires. However, the distance separating donors and patient in need was an obstacle and there seemed to be no way to overcome it quickly enough.

Unfortunately, those in a position to make it happen reacted to the proposal with bewilderment. The situation was entangled in bureaucratic protocols and procedures that were unable to deal with such an innovative idea.

In the end, the answer to the proposal was negative. A few days later, a hero appeared in Mendoza, allowing our partner’s mother to receive the treatment she was urgently needing, so that she was able to overcome her critical condition.

That experience was the trigger for creating this project. Arcion is a tribute to that mother (an architect from Mendoza), a way to prevent any other person from needing a “hero donor” to make it out of a critical condition.
